GodSpeed

While we're working on The Book, which always means the current main project among book authors, we sometimes think of what the next project will be. Since the current one is set in the Civil War, maybe go back to the early colonial era. Probably not, but I like to think about it.
Especially when there is something to look at.
The Godspeed shown in the photo was one of the three ships carrying the first settlers to Virginia who first came to Jamestown. This new replica will visit Alexandria, Virginia for one week from May 27 through June 3, 2006, as part of Memorial Day Weekend. This is a newly made replica of the 88 foot long ship replaces a replica made in the 1980s. Gee, the just don't build 'em like they used to.
Crossing the Atlantic in an 88 foot ship then was so dangerous as to be foolhardy. Might be dangerous now, too. That's mighty small.
