Yes, I know that I haven't posted here in a long time. Things have been very busy, but that is no excuse.
Yes, I know this is supposed to be a Civil War guns blog. That doesn't mean I don't like modern guns too. So, on to the real story...
Have any of you had a chance to shoot one of the new Springfield XDS pistols yet? I really like these pistols. Springfield Armory came out with the XDS in .45 ACP two years ago, and then a 9mm version this year. No .40 version yet.
Last week, I had the chance to buy one of the Springfield XDS 9mm pistols that was just introduced. This gun is awesome!
It is a single stack pistol, which means that all of the cartridges are stacked on top of each other, instead of being staggered in the magazine. This means the grip is thinner, which is much easier to conceal than a thick pistol.
The sights on the XDS are also excellent. The front sight is a bright red fiber optic, which I really like in a self-defense gun.
The gun is lightweight and carries easily. Shooting is very easy with a lot less recoil than I would have imagined. It is easy and fun to shoot. The XDS is also ultra-reliable. I have not had a single problem with it.
Bottom line, it is an awesome pistol. If you need a good concealed carry gun, you ought to take a look at the Springfield XDS 9mm or 45 ACP.
